The building

The school complex in Sarezzo for local primary school pupils was inaugurated on September 6, 2025. The new structure, spread over two floors above ground, has a total volume of 10,705 cubic meters and a gross surface area of 3,570 square meters. The building features an internal courtyard, overlooked by both floors, a design choice intended to make the most of natural light and create a welcoming and bright environment.

Made of Xlam wood, the complex guarantees high thermal and acoustic insulation. The interior spaces are designed to be flexible: the partition walls are modular, allowing classrooms and other spaces to be adapted to different educational needs. The school is designed to accommodate up to 625 students in 25 classrooms. In addition to the classrooms, there are seven laboratories, a library, and a canteen. Next to the canteen, a classroom dedicated to students with disabilities has also been created to ensure inclusion and easy access to services. The combination of spaces and solutions adopted makes the new school complex in Sarezzo a modern, functional environment designed to promote the well-being of students and teachers.

The challenge

The construction of the new school complex represented an opportunity to go beyond simply building a structure. The real challenge was to create an environment that was not only energy efficient, but also focused on the well-being and health of students and staff. This meant designing a system that would guarantee clean air and an optimal temperature at all times of the year, crucial factors for promoting concentration and improving academic performance.

Solution adopted

To achieve these ambitious goals, the project focused on integrating sustainable, cutting-edge technologies. At the heart of the heating and air conditioning system are two SPINCHILLER4 WSAN-YSC4 110.4 heat pumps, chosen for their high energy efficiency, use of environmentally friendly R32 refrigerant, and innovative technologies such as the ECOBREEZE device to optimise the consumption of external fans. Heat and cold are distributed via an underfloor radiant system. To ensure maximum air quality, four AQX16 air handling units have been installed. These units, which are certified for hygiene, have been designed to facilitate sanitisation and cleaning.

Finally, to maximise the building's energy self-sufficiency, the roof was equipped with photovoltaic panels for the production of electricity from renewable sources.
